Man

Filed under: Light at the End of The Tunnel — by nullp0inter @ 8:19 pm

What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals!
~Hamlet (II, ii)

EDIT: I just realized how this may appear sexist, but I read man as “humankind”.

Hand of Yahweh

Next time you need to have some humility instilled in you simply watch this video of THIRTEEN year old Itzhak Perlman play a difficult Mendelssohn concert.

His fingers move so effortlessly… that is true virtuosity.

A Finite Simple Group of Order Two

Filed under: Awesomeness, Hero, Light at the End of The Tunnel, Me — by nullp0inter @ 12:51 pm

This song is being performed at my wedding (assuming I get married).  No questions asked, even if I have to hunt down all the members of the Klein Four Group.

 Why not three? CLASSIC!

Seattle

Filed under: Awesomeness, Conan the Barbarian, Light at the End of The Tunnel, Me — by nullp0inter @ 10:40 pm

650 thread count sheets.  700 thread count microgel down comforter & bouvet.
Queen-sized tempurpedic bed and pillows.  It’s so hard getting out of bed in the morning.

Had to special order split queen boxes, because they don’t make the angle into my room.

My meager home office.  1200 x 1200 dpi laser printer, fully loaded T61p, and custom OC core 2 duo machine.  Stainless steel. Stockton / Sharper Image design. Yum.

My 1080p projector and Z-5500 surround sound speakers are being shipped :)

The keystone and crown jewel of my possesions:

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of the women.

Yes, yes that is good!

And for good measure, this is what it looks like where I live now:

Gorgeous.

I need to get my new wetsuit, that can handle colder glacial water :)

Transformation

I foolishly fell for a girl named Lindsey, against my better judgement.  It was a calculated gamble, that blew up in my face teaching me a valuable lesson.

I was forged into a new man, by my experience:

I am now out to Seattle, where I will train in mixed martial arts,  and achieving the level of seduction guru.

I will train and then return to the East, where I will become king by my own hand!

What is best in life?  Conan knows!

Rape

http://www.anandaanswers.com/pages/naaFalse.html

False rape allegations constitute 41% of the total forcible rape cases (109) reported during this period. These false allegations appear to serve three major functions for the complainants: providing an alibi, seeking revenge, and obtaining sympathy and attention.

[False rape allegations are reported in similar numbers at college campuses; approximately 50% of rape charges are admitted to be false by the accuser.]

This speaks for itself.

Deer, Blood, and Manliness

Unable to cope with my girlfriend problems with Lindsey, I decided to take the easy way out and commit suicide. I forgot the basic advice though, up the stream not across the river :(

 The results  .

I’m just kidding of course!  Suicide is messed up no one should do it, except those who fall into that oregon assisted suicide law… standard disclaimer, yadda yadda IANAL  blah blah.

Anyway, that is just one of many scares I will have after hitting  a deer going 25 MPH on my road bike @ 1:00 AM on the W & OD.

I was riding down the trail thinking and though awwwh dear so I play roared at it.  It being a deer bolted off in the same direction my bike was traveling.  I was going fast and picking up speed so it wasn’t getting away…

Anyway, I was coming to a bridge shortly before Hunter Mill (yeah, there are deer in vienna imagine that) when i noticed oh there’s fence around the bridge. Deer was still running along side trying to get away. Then it cross in front of me & WHAM it tries to jump the fence and fails.  It freaks out and bolts back across to the other side… OH SHIT!

The last image burned into my eyes are a dear’s head with it’s eyes staring right into mine illuminated in the blinking LED glow from headlights.  I remember a dull thud seeing it fly forward and fall over, myself detaching from my bicycle and flipping over the deer, my bicycle flying back.  I was on the floor and immediately on my feet, blood pumping and then I did something stupid again.. I roared at the deer.  A deep guttural roar. Then I noticed it was one of those deer with antlers and I was like oh shit… it’s gonna charge me and I’m going to get skewered by a buck on the W & OD at 1 AM, coming home from work.  What a way to go.

Then it turned around and ran away and I collapsed back on the floor.  I hadn’t felt so tired and out of breath in a long time. I just lay there for about 5 minutes and then everything started hurting.  Especially my severely bruise left side on which I had landed on.  My left wrist is still oozing blood and it’s been like 2 hours.  My entire left side is turning several shades of purple and yellow.  Hell yeah!

THEN I GET TO FUCKING MCDONALDS AND IT’S FUCKING CLOSED! SO IS TACO BELL! WHAT THE FUCK?

I just had a near death experience and I wanted a 10 piece chicken nugget with sweet and sour sauce and my suburban McTacoHut (Wiehle & 267) is closed? At 1 AM? 24 HOUR DRIVE THRUS PLEASE.  I swear I saw like 5 cars pull in only to find out it was closed while I was there.

So I dejectedly rode home, took pictures, cleaned myself up and made a blog entry.

No more biking to work, both my bikes are now in the shop. How unfortunate. Alas, though I think I’m taking this whole manliness thing to far.  Observe this conversation:

(2:49:38 AM) schuldi*: Is it all your blood?
(2:49:40 AM) Matt *: It’s my blood
(2:49:44 AM) schuldi*: Oh.
(2:49:59 AM) schuldi*: Uh, maybe you should have stopped by the ER instead?
(2:55:27 AM) Matt *: boo
(2:55:31 AM) Matt *: real men don’t go to the ER
(2:55:35 AM) Matt *: they bleed to death

RAWR! I do feel good though. I faced down a deer. Now for a water buffalo or a hippo.

Tired

Filed under: Light at the End of The Tunnel, Relationships — by nullp0inter @ 7:13 pm

I am so tired, but I love her so much I am going to try to fix things.  She may not want to try again and I’m sort of limbo giver her space and time, while she makes up her mind.

She really is a wonderful girl with a good heart even if she’s made some mistakes. We both messed up; people make mistakes.  We apologized to each other, now all I can do is hope for the best.

If we can make it past this, we can make it past anything.

Music and Noise

Filed under: Awesomeness, Hero, Light at the End of The Tunnel, Music — by nullp0inter @ 7:12 pm

I think I was born at the wrong time.  It seems like all the doable great deeds that have needed doing have already been done.  All that’s left now is the insane complicated and the stuff that no one is really interested in.

I find this even reflected in music.  Ever since the 80s music has really gone to shit.  People have adopted this Rococo post-modernist approach of not actually making sense in the liberal arts department.  It seems that there’s two sides today in the composition world, with a few notable exceptions like John Williams and Hans Zimmer.  There’s a bunch of post-modernist noise embraced for it being different and then there’s pop trash which took all the knowledge of music accumulated over the years and now uses it as a template to pump out top 40 hits.

That’s why I’ll stick to the Little Fugue in g minor by Bach.  Vivaldi is amazing with sequences. Felix Mendelssohn’s concerto in e minor.  The cadenza is AMAZING, the first person is better, but you must go to around 7 min to hear it. There’s so much good music out there, why listen to the crap noise that comes out now?

Itzhak Perlman will make you cry. Here’s one of my favorite pieces to play on the Viola (except I don’t sound anywhere close to this).  Handel-Halvorssen Passacaglia in D major.

Michelangelo Batio will give you an orgasm with his playing.  Check out his song no boundaries song pay attention to crazy shit at 1:53 and the sequence that will make you horny around 2:10.

Even Guns n’ Roses gave us quite possibly the greatest ballad of all time: November Rain.

but darling when I hold you don’t you know I feel the same? Nothing last’s forever and we both know hearts can change…. and it’s hard to hold a candle in the cold November Rain.

The only two songs that have a chance at challenging said supremacy?
Lynard Skynard’s Free Bird

If I leave you here tommorow, would you still remember me? I must be traveling on now, because there’s too many places I’ve got to see.  If I stay here with you girl… things just couldn’t be the same, because I’m as free as a bird now and this bird you cannot change.

Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody

I’m just a poor boy, I need no sympathy, because I’m easy come, easy go… little high, little low.  Anyway the wind blows doesn’t really matter to me.  Mama…. just killed a man, put a gun against his head. Pulled my trigger and now he’s dead.  Life had just begun, but now I’ve gone and thrown it all away.

Those are songs that have stood the test of time.

Now, I’m not closed mind against new music.  I have grown to respect Eminem as an artist and have even begun to appreciate the emo melodrama that is My Chemical Romance, especially in their music video for Helena. MCR’s use of imagery, symbolism, and color is quite impressive in my opinion.

I enjoy pop for what it is, music designed from chord progression that are scientifically known to be pleasant (V-I).

If you’ve been paying attention to my music choices, you’ve probably pegged me as a hopeless Romantic… and you’d be right!

Fratire

Filed under: Light at the End of The Tunnel, With a Whimper — by nullp0inter @ 6:40 pm

I was reading through one of the comments on Tucker Max’s article in defense of Fratire and I saw this:

I am a woman.
I am a feminist.
I love men.
I LOVE TUCKER MAX.

I see plenty of women saying not to listen to what Tucker Max says about women, while being rather avid fans of his writing. Unfortunately, by sleeping and supporting Tucker Max you support players and guys treating you as nothing much more than another bang. Understand that you don’t develop in a vacuum.  The more your perceived and acceptance and support of Tucker Max like behavior the more men that engage in it.

It’s the bubble effect.  Example: the housing market.  Everyone saw these high school dropouts make millions and though, what the hell I should be making millions!  Market speculation created a booming bull market.  Prices skyrocketed. Risky Loans.  Unethical behavior.  Real Estate Gurus. Realtors.  Brokerages. Then suddenly one day POP!

To say that it can happen again is foolish.  It’s happened before, in this century.  Roaring twenties, flappers, and rapid development of wealth. The shimmy!  Wham -> Great Depression -> FDR -> Public Works -> The Great Generation & WWII & Cold War -> Baby Boomers -> Wealth Explosion -> Tech Boom -> Flappers (Paris Hilton, Sears, Lohan, et al).

Clearly, history doesn’t repeat exactly.  Previously, people like Rockefeller at one point controlled like 1/52 of the US GDP.
That’s just sick.  Bill Gates by comparions control far less than 1/1000.  We’re bigger, more advanced, more resilient now.  To forget the lessons of history though is to end up like Rome, the Dutch, the Spanish, and the British before us.

Maintain consistency of your beliefs and arguments and expand your body knowledge about the world as much as possible. Don’t let people get away with everything. Otherwise, imagine a world full of Tuckers.
